Walk-in coolers

Walk-in coolers, standard size or yours

Six standard indoor packages with the refrigeration included and free shipping — or a box built to the dimensions your room allows. Fully insulated tongue-and-groove cam-lock panels, no wood perimeter, NSF Listed.

Quick answer

A walk-in cooler is an insulated room that holds product above freezing. The FDA requires refrigerated product be kept at 41°F or lower; our standard packages are specified to hold 35°F.

Because the box never drops below freezing, the insulated floor is optional: the panel walls can be secured to your concrete or tile floor with the 4″ vinyl screed that comes in every package, so carts roll straight in with no ramp.

Six standard packages

These are the footprints most operations land on. Each one is a complete package — box, door hardware, lighting and a matched remote refrigeration system. If none of them fit your room, that is a custom panel run, not a problem.

Standard size indoor packages. Outdoor options available; other sizes offered on request. FREE SHIPPING on every walk-in we quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. Prices are quoted, not published: the same footprint changes price with the floor, the refrigeration configuration, the door count and the destination.

In every package

What comes in the package

Every standard cooler ships as the same complete kit. The only thing that changes between models is the footprint and the horsepower of the system matched to it.

  • Panels: 4″ insulation, 2009 EISA compliant, 26 gauge stucco-embossed Acrylume inside and out. Tongue-and-groove, cam-lock action, no wood perimeter, NSF Listed.
  • Door: standard flush-closing door with a 34″ × 76″ opening in a reinforced door frame — heavy-duty hinges, magnetic door gasket, door closer, inside safety release, and a heavy-duty latch with locking key.
  • Lighting and controls: pre-wired light switch, vapor-proof light fixture and a dial thermometer.
  • Floor detail: 4″ vinyl screed to secure the panel walls to your floor. A heavy-duty 4″ aluminum insulated floor is available as an option.
  • Listings: UL; MEA — New York City; State of Oregon; City of Houston, Texas building code agency.
  • Refrigeration included: remote indoor condenser / compressor with drier and sight glass (208-230/60/1), an adjustable thermostat, and a low-profile air-defrost evaporator with thermostatic expansion valve (115/60/1).

Options on any package

  • Heavy-duty 4″ aluminum insulated floor — specify it over a wood deck, an upper floor or unconditioned space; over a sound slab most operators use the vinyl screed instead.
  • Remote outdoor condenser / compressor, or self-contained refrigeration in place of the indoor remote system.
  • Door placement and opening preference — which wall, which hinge side.
  • Outdoor installation of the walk-in cooler and its refrigeration.
  • Other sizes — panels are manufactured to your dimensions.
  • Glass doors and view windows for merchandising — see display glass door walk-ins and flower coolers.
Restaurants to industrial

Walk-in coolers for restaurants, stores and industrial cold storage

Commercial and industrial walk-in coolers for sale, sized for the product you hold — from a standard 6′ × 6′ package to large-format rooms built for pallet racking and forklift traffic. Free shipping on every walk-in we quote.

  • Restaurants & kitchens — fresh product sized around your delivery frequency, with reach-ins at the stations that need them.
  • Convenience & package stores — back-room holding behind a glass door display or beer cave.
  • Supermarkets & delis — display out front, bulk holding behind it, so the sales floor never runs empty.
  • Industrial, commissary & processing — staging, chilled holding and raw-to-ready separation, with the sanitation spec to survive an inspection.
  • Warehouse walk-ins — large-format cooler rooms built for pallet racking, forklift traffic and volume storage.
  • Facilities & institutions — schools, hospitals and care facilities where a temperature log is a compliance document.
Why the envelope matters

Built to stay tight and pass inspection

Most walk-in failures are not refrigeration failures — they are envelope failures. This is what we build for.

  • Fully insulated panels, no wood perimeter. Nothing organic at the panel edge to absorb water, swell or rot.
  • Tongue-and-groove, cam-lock action. Panels self-align and pull tight for super easy, fast installation, and the joint stays sealed as the building moves.
  • NSF Listed. The National Sanitation Foundation listing that makes the box easy to clean and sanitize, and that your health inspector is looking for.
  • Indoor or outdoor. If you are limited in space inside your store, install it outside.
  • Matched refrigeration. Every walk-in is matched with the correctly sized system to maintain the proper temperature at all times — sized from the heat load, not the floor area.

Walk-In Coolers FAQ

What temperature should a walk-in cooler be?

35°F. The FDA mandates that refrigerated product be kept at 41°F or lower; the lower the temperature, the longer the food lasts, and our standard cooler packages are specified to hold 35°F, which leaves a comfortable margin for door openings and warm deliveries.

Do I need an insulated floor?

On a cooler it is optional, because the box never drops below freezing and cannot frost-heave your slab. Every standard package includes a 4″ vinyl screed that secures the panel walls to your concrete or tile floor, so the entry is flush and carts roll straight in.

Order the heavy-duty 4″ aluminum insulated floor if you are installing over a wood deck, an upper floor or unconditioned space. Walk-in freezers are different: the floor is always included.

Can you build a custom size?

Routinely. Walk-in coolers and freezers are manufactured in many different sizes and configurations to fit any space in your store, or outside it. Panels are made to your dimensions, so L-shapes, low ceilings and a box built around a column are normal work.

The real constraint is usually not the room but the route to it — measure your narrowest doorway, the tightest hallway turn and the lowest ceiling obstruction before you measure the space.

Can it go outdoors?

Yes. If you are limited in space inside your store you can install the walk-in outdoors. Outdoor installation of the box and its refrigeration is available on request, and the outdoor condensing units are in our refrigeration catalogue.

Is shipping really free?

Yes. Free shipping on every walk-in we quote, so there is no surprise on delivery day.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The inside dimensions you have to work with, the temperature you need, and what is going in the box. That is enough for a same-day number. Before anything is manufactured you receive a dimensioned approval drawing to sign off, so the details get confirmed in writing, not guessed.

Ready to size your cooler?

Send the inside dimensions and what you are storing. You get a dimensioned approval drawing to sign off and a real number — usually the same day.
