Display glass door walk-ins and beer caves

Straight runs, L-shapes and beer caves for convenience stores, package stores and supermarkets — cooler or freezer, with heated glass doors. We build to meet your needs; nothing is so complicated we cannot do it.

Quick answer

A display walk-in is a walk-in cooler or freezer with glass doors on the sales-floor side: customers reach in from the store, and you restock from inside the box. A beer cave is the same idea one step further — a display walk-in customers walk into, so the whole cold room is sales floor.

We quote and sell the best-known heated glass doors in the industry — a mainstay since 1958. When a door has been around that long, you know it holds up.

Layouts we build

Straight, L-shape, beer cave

Every display box is drawn for its wall, its door count and its traffic. These are the shapes that come up most.

Straight display coolersA single run of glass doors along one wall with the walk-in behind it. The simplest display box and the easiest to restock.
L-shape with beer cave and freezerDoors on two walls, with a walk-in beer cave or a freezer section built into the run. One structure, several temperatures and price points.
Beer caves, small or largeA walk-in the customer enters. Glass at the entrance, cold product floor to ceiling, and a view window if you want the room to sell from outside.
View windowsA window in the panel wall so customers can see the product before they open a door — and so staff can see the room.
Display glass door freezersThe same layouts at freezer temperature, with the insulated floor, door heater and electric defrost a freezer needs.
Reach-in displayFront-loading coolers or freezers, from four doors up, built to your specifications. See reach-ins →

Heated glass doors

The doors are quoted and sold with the walk-in, so the door openings and the panels are engineered together instead of matched on site.

  • In the glass door business since 1958 — still innovating and still ahead of every competing manufacturer.
  • LED lighting and shelving available with the doors, so the product is lit and the customer can reach it.
  • Heated glass doors for cooler and freezer duty — our approval drawings specify Model 401 heated glass doors. See a real approval drawing.
  • Door count to suit the wall — from three doors to as many as the run will take.

Display glass is judged on sales per linear foot, not cubic feet of storage. The box behind it is sized for restocking, not for show.

Display Glass Door Walk-Ins FAQ

What is the difference between a display walk-in and a beer cave?

Who goes inside. A display walk-in keeps the customer on the sales floor reaching through glass doors; staff restock from inside. A beer cave is a display walk-in the customer walks into, so the cold room itself is the display and the doors are the entrance.

How many glass doors can I have?

From a small 3-door run to as many doors as the wall will take — each box is built to your specifications. The door count, the wall length and the ceiling height decide the layout; the refrigeration is then sized to the glass, because every door is heat coming in.

Do you build display freezers too?

Yes. Display glass door walk-in freezers use the same layouts at freezer temperature, with the insulated floor, the door heater and the electric-defrost refrigeration every freezer we build includes.

Which glass doors do you use?

Premium heated glass doors, quoted and sold with the walk-in, with LED lighting and shelving available. Our approval drawings specify the Model 401 heated glass door.

Can I add a view window?

Yes — small or large beer cave walk-ins with view windows are a standard request. Tell us which wall faces the store.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The length of wall available to the sales floor, the ceiling height, the depth you can give up behind it, how many doors you want, and whether it is a cooler, a freezer or both. A rough sketch of the store helps. You get a dimensioned approval drawing to sign off before anything is built.

How many doors does your wall take?

Send the wall length, the ceiling height and the door count you have in mind. We will draw the run and put a real number on it.
